Gateway T20 Northampton

The inaugural Gateway T20 event held at the Northampton County Cricket ground was a remarkable occasion. Organized by CricFitSport (CFS), the Gateway T20 League serves as a professional platform for cricketers aiming to enter county and professional cricket. It features a unique mix of former professionals and promising local talent.

The franchise-style format allows aspiring cricketers to display their skills while playing alongside and learning from some of the sport’s most esteemed figures. These include former Northamptonshire and England legend Monty Panesar, former Northamptonshire T20 Blast champion Josh Cobb, the county’s current batting coach Greg Smith, and former Kent all-rounder Matt Coles, who was on loan at Northamptonshire in 2019. Also participating are former Durham and England wicketkeeper Phil Mustard, former Leicestershire and Kent all-rounder Darren Stevens, and former Glamorgan, Warwickshire, and Derbyshire all-rounder Graham Wagg.

Gateway T20 League founder Ash Baluja stated: “Our goal was to establish another significant pathway for talented club cricketers while celebrating the vitality of recreational cricket across Northamptonshire and the surrounding counties.

Four teams played against each other - Northern Titans and Southern Storm played in the final
