"I am deeply honoured and truly humbled to have received the Outstanding Achievement Award at the Mayor’s Awards last night (26/02/26).

I would like to extend my sincere thanks to the Mayor and the entire awards committee for this recognition and for celebrating the contributions of individuals working within our community.

It is so inspiring to be surrounded by so many dedicated and passionate people who are making a difference in Milton Keynes.

Asian Community Radio serves, connects, and shares the voices of our diverse community. I strongly believe in the values of culture, inclusion, and unity — and the station was set up to deliver exactly that. With an incredible team of volunteers who dedicate so much of their time, the work we do together to inform, uplift, and empower our listeners is something I am extremely proud of.

This award is not just a personal achievement — it reflects the support, encouragement, and collaboration of so many people. To my amazing volunteers, thank you for your dedication and commitment. To my family and friends, your constant support, patience, and belief in me have been my greatest strength — even when I’m volunteering 12 hours a day

Serving the community is something I am deeply passionate about. I believe in creating spaces where people feel heard, valued, and represented. Receiving this award motivates me even more to continue working hard and contributing positively to our city.

I dedicate this award to Ranjit Singh, who believed this was a much-needed addition to Milton Keynes’ growing and diverse community.

As a city, we have grown in population and culture. As we approach 60 years next year, we must continue building a city that delivers — one that is multicultural, faith-inclusive, business-driven, and truly on the map for all the right reasons.

Let’s continue to recognise the work we do as a city. Let’s unite. Let’s deliver."

Jessica Memon
